Management Consulting Company Engages Solaris to Lead Oracle to SAP Conversion

October 6, 2025

Management consulting company partners with Solaris to implement SAP across North America.

With revenues in the $6B range, global consolidations, and complex office rollups, our client engaged Solaris to assist their U.S. Accounting team throughout their SAP implementation. Solaris provided project management and leveraged industry experience to address complex reporting and system challenges — from requirements gathering through cutover — and led hyper care issue prioritization and resolution.

The Challenge: Highly Customized Legacy System Transitioning to SAP

The organization’s legacy system, Oracle, was highly customized to meet day-to-day business needs. However, mapping current processes into SAP required in-depth knowledge of SAP functionality as well as industry best practices to improve controls. Additionally, due to the size of the entity, third-party reporting tools were leveraged to accommodate high transaction volumes through Business Intelligence Launch Pad (BI), supporting financial analysis during and after SAP go-live.

The Solution: Interim Leadership and Comprehensive Financial Reconciliations

Solaris played a key role in tracking and implementing system requirements, ensuring proper customization while mitigating unintended control and reporting risks. We served as the primary liaison between the finance, procurement, and IT teams to align SAP with desired reporting and process functionality. Additionally, we provided direct support to the finance team, assisting with month-end close and post–go-live issue resolution. To manage change effectively, Solaris developed and executed a structured communication strategy for stakeholders, ensuring smooth adoption across the organization.

"Solaris was able to onboard quickly in a large, complex environment, using their experience to effectively prioritize, problem solve and delegate within the ERP team.” - US Controller and Senior Finance Director

The Impact: New System, New Processes

By partnering with Solaris, new processes were developed to meet the organization’s evolving needs — particularly in procurement — starting from the system cutover blackout period through to final reporting. Solaris successfully mapped these processes within SAP to accommodate nonstandard transactions, structured the cutover phase to minimize disruptions to vendor payments, and led both internal and external communications with stakeholders. Additionally, Solaris worked closely with the SAP and BI teams to review reporting outputs and address any deficiencies, ensuring that month-end close timelines were consistently met post–go-live.
